Spray Displacements of Two Agricultural Nozzies Using Spray Patternator

The purpose of this paper was to measure the spray pattern displacements (SPD) of two agricultural nozzles using an experimental spray patternator in the laboratory. A SPD measuring technique was developed and SPD data gathered using Spraying System Co.’s 8004 fan nozzles and TK-SS2.5 flood tip nozzles. The mean SPD values for the 8004 fan nozzle were 30 percentage points lower (P<0.05) than that for TK-SS2.5 flood tip nozzle. As expected, the mean SPD values for the high-wind conditions were significantly higher (P<0.05) than that for the low-wind conditions for both the nozzles. This implies that the 8004 fan nozzle would do a better job of spraying and that the spraying should be carried out under low wind conditions.
