Design for a Contained Inductively Coupled Plasma/D-C Arc Atomic Emission Spectrometer at the Savannah River Plant

Source

The atomic emission spectroscopy laboratory of the Savannah River Plant, in Aiken, South Carolina, has been in operation for over 30 years. Routine analytical methods and instrumentation are being replaced with current technology. Laboratory renovation will include the installation of contained dual-excitation sources (inductively coupled plasma and D-C arc) with a direct-reading spectrometer. The instrument will be used to provide impurity analyses of plutonium, uranium, and other nuclear fuel cycle materials.
