Wash Durability of FR Cotton

Source

Flame resistant cotton fabrics are among the most widely used fabrics for secondary protective clothing for flame and thermal exposure in the industrial work place. Technological improvements in the treating processes employed over the past ten years have yielded treated fabrics with wash durability under actual conditions that significantly outlasts the garment itself. With this paper we will provide guidelines to accurately assess factors that relate to garment service life. This paper summarizes the laboratory determination of durability, then considers actual use conditions and other parameters that may not be adequately addressed by laboratory methods. Finally practices are proposed that relate to when garments should be replaced.
