The Effect of Seams and Closures on Pesticide Penetration Through Fabric

Source

Seam and/or zipper closures were evaluated as barriers to pesticides by using a multilayer sample. The sample was exposed to a spray solution of either dicofol or etridiazole using a laboratory spray chamber. The samples were solvent extracted and the extracts were analyzed by High Performance Liquid Chromatograph (HPLC). This study found that the plain seam, and the lapped traditional zipper provided the best barrier to specific pesticides.
