Acoustic Emission Monitoring of Contact Drying of Southern Pine Veneer

Source

Veneer was contact dried at two pressures and two temperatures to evaluate the formation of defects and drying characteristics as monitored by acoustic emission. The formation of excessive splits was characterized by a stepwise pattern of acoustic emission events. The effects of heat transfer and temperature on drying rate could be inferred from the rate of events or shape of the normalized total event curves.
