A Performance Profile Approach to Measuring Overall Facility Management (FM) Performance

Three key ideas for measuring facility management performance are discussed: (1) the concept of “fit” as a key component of FM quality; (2) the need to collect as little information as possible; (3) the need to analyze patterns of multiple outcomes rather than focusing on single factors. Different possible measures of FM performance are described. These are discussed in the context of a performance profile which graphically, as well as quantitatively, presents performance information in a way that can help guide ongoing management decisions, programs, and policies.
