The National Materials Property Data Network, Inc.—A Cooperative National Approach to Reliable Performance Data

Source

In response to the critical need identified by a number of expert studies, the National Materials Property Data Network, Inc. was established to provide engineers and scientists with easy on-line access to worldwide sources of reliable, well-documented, numeric/factual material property data. A pilot MPD Network from Stanford University, is now on-line. It is based upon the MIST technology developed jointly by the National Bureau of Standards (NBS) and the Department of Energy (DOE). The status of that pilot system and future plans for the MPD Network are described herein, along with a number of other data base activities that are complementary to or being developed cooperatively with the Network.
