Practical Use of the PMS Spray Analyzer for Pesticide Application Research

Source

A Particle Measuring Systems (PMS) OAP-2D-GA2 spray analyzer was found to be an effective tool for comparing the droplet spectra from three similar sprayers. Field tests using soda straws as deposition targets showed that the sprayer that produced the smallest volume median diameter gave the most uniform and widest swath when used in a 4.5 m/s wind. Efficacy trails against range caterpillar confirmed the PMS and field test results. This research resulted in a practical, economical ground-based application method for range caterpillar control.
