Development of Instrumentation for Spray Drop Size Research

Source

The latest version of an optical, nonintrusive, imaging instrument for measuring drop sizes in sprays is briefly described. The range of drop sizes measurable is 6 to 1200 μm. The use of a laser allows the time exposure to be only 10 ns, which is suitable for fast-moving drops typically found with air-atomizing spray nozzles. References are given for a fuller description of the method and its advantages.
