Titanium Matrix Composite Durability Analyses for the Design of Airframe Structures


A fatigue life prediction technique is described for use with titanium matrix composite materials. Damage modes specific to this material system are discussed for unnotched and center-notched laminates. Test data for isothermal fatigue and thermomechanical fatigue specimens are compared against predictions made using the analysis method.
