ALUSELECT—Engineering Property Data for Aluminium Alloys


In a collaborative effort between eight major European aluminium companies, property data for aluminium alloys have been collected, evaluated, and new harmonized values proposed. The following property groups have been considered: conventional mechanical, physical, creep, fatigue, corrosion resistance, cold formability, welding, machinability, and properties for surface treatment. The collected property data have been input into a data bank called ALUSELECT. Using the data bank, the property data have been analyzed and the results of the analysis used for the harmonization process. The harmonized values have also been input in the data bank. The harmonized property values will become available to the public in 1991, also in machine readable form. In this way, it is expected that data bank builders should have access to good property data information for aluminium alloys. A simple selection system with the harmonized property data will be also provided.
