Alpine Injury Pattern at Waterville Valley—1989 Update

Source

The 1988/1989 Waterville Valley, NH, injury patterns show a further decline in lower leg injuries and a trend toward a reduction in knee and thumb injuries. Advanced skiers are now far more likely to injure the upper body, especially shoulder, thumb, or head, than the lower body. The introduction of a high-speed quadruple lift at Waterville Valley in 1988/1989 was associated with only a modest increase in injury rate.
