Promoted Combustion of Pure Metals in Oxygen-Enriched Atmospheres

Source

The combustion behavior of several elemental materials was studied using their threshold pressures (minimum pressure required to sustain combustion in 3.2-mm-(0.13-inch) diameter rod) as the ranking criterion in a promoted combustion test apparatus. Test media varied from 100% aviator's breathing oxygen to air and the test pressures varied from ambient to 70 MPa (10,000 psi).
