ASTM G-4 Twenty-Year Report Card: Keynote Address

Source

The ASTM G-4 Committee was established twenty years ago. The purpose of the Committee, then and now, is to provide for better test methods, standard practices, and education in oxygen-enriched atmospheres. Safety, efficiency, productivity, and legal-consequence aspects have made the contributions of this Committee an important part of the many industries that use oxygen. In this paper, the original charter of the Committee, along with the suggestions made by other Keynote Speakers, will be reviewed. The process to achieve the key aspects assigned to the Committee will be assessed and graded. Three areas will be considered: standardization of test methods, standardization of guidelines and practices, and education. Areas that need attention in the future by the Committee will also be identified.
