Obtaining Data for Fire Growth Models

Editor(s): Morgan Bruns, Marc Janssens

In December 2021, ASTM International Committee E05 sponsored a symposium to bring together engineers, chemists, and fire scientists from around the globe to present results of the most recent pertinent studies and participate in a discussion with the objective of developing a roadmap for positioning Guide E1591 to keep pace with 21st-century fire modeling. Selected papers from this symposium have been compiled into this selected technical papers (STP) to help summarize and archive the current state of the art. The papers focus on tests to obtain data at multiple scales, data uncertainty and sensitivity, obtaining fire model parameters, and using full-scale tests for model validation. The STP includes authors from Germany, Denmark, Canada, Finland, Japan, Chile, France, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
