“Witness Coupon” Testing as a Possible Method for Validating Precision Cleaned Hardware in Oxygen Systems

Source

In the effort to replace Chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) in the cleaning and validation processes of precision cleaned hardware, many methods have been proposed. “Witness coupon” testing is one of those methods being studied that would give flexibility to either a cleaning or validation process, and also allow for flexibility in analytical techniques. A precontaminated coupon is processed along with the parts/components and contamination remaining on the coupon is evaluated by an analytical technique. In this preliminary study, infrared specular reflectance is used to evaluate the contamination level on coupons.
