The 1990 Clean Air Act Amendments contain a number of provisions related to the fuels used in motor vehicles. These regulatory programs will affect fuel quality in a number of ways. The regulations cover the following aspects of fuels: gasoline volatility, diesel fuel quality, oxygenated fuels, reformulated gasoline and clean alternative fuels. Each of these regulations and their impact on fuel quality is discussed.
