Critical to long-term performance of windows is the correct design, selection, and application of the sealant. Key aspects to correct sealant selection are a simultaneous combination of adhesion, movement capability, and durability. The movement capability is directly correlated to the glazing joint geometry. Understanding the stress-strain analysis of the sealant at a variety of joint geometry's provides important information for proper glazing design and sealant selection. Durability of window glazing performance can be optimized by evaluating, and understanding, the effects of geometry on the sealant movement capability.
