Gait Dynamics with Step Height Alterations

Source

Walking ground reaction forces (GRF) were recorded from a quartz force plate, whose surface was positioned above, below, and level with respect to a level walkway grade. Significant differences in selected GRF measures were found between the level condition and step-up heights >25 mm and step-down heights >-14.7 mm. No differences were found between the level condition and a step-up height of 6.7 mm. Implications were discussed regarding alterations in gait dynamics, and suggestions were provided regarding additions of suprastructures to quartz force plates.
