The Role of System Dynamics on the Behavior of Elastomeric Friction

Source

Friction induced vibration of an epoxy coated shaft rotating in an elastomer bushing is investigated. Three factional regimes were observed. System stiffness and load were varied to observe changes in the critical velocities bounding each regime. The load, velocity, and support stiffness interact to influence the vibration amplitude, the vibration frequency, and the frequency content of the friction torque.
