Integrated Screening Systems in the 1990s

More integrated detection systems using various combinations of imaging, explosive detection, weapons detection, and access control technologies will be employed in security screening in the 1990s. These systems use more than one technology to perform specific screening functions to increase the probability of detection and improve discrimination between target items and innocent items. This paper presents some of the existing and possible configurations of these integrated systems and introduces some of the issues and problems associated with their use.
