Simulation, Precision and Decision in JFTOT Testing


JFTOT testing is a form of performance testing simulating the effects of a fuel/oil heat exchanger and other hot engine parts on the thermal oxidative stability of a jet fuel. Over the years, many questions have been raised about the dynamic aspects of the simulation, the reliability of the data, and the methods by which the data are used to satisfy specification needs. This paper examines these issues and shows how the test is as technically reliable as it has been practically reliable in use.
