Correlation Between Inductively Coupled Plasma and Rotating Disk Electrode Spark Emission Spectrometry for Used Diesel Engine Oils


Fifty used and twenty new diesel engine oils are analyzed by both inductively coupled plasma and rotating disk electrode spark emission spectrometry. The results obtained by the two techniques are statistically correlated for ten wear metals and for four additive elements, and the implications of the correlations are discussed.
