Stilbene Neutron Spectrometer with Spreading of a One Parameter Pulse Shape Discrimination Dynamic Range

Source

In this paper a generally applicable method for a detector involving pulse shape discrimination (PSD) technique is presented. The energy range is covered by one measurement with two PSD loops (one for higher and one for lower energy part). The method was applied in stilbene proton — recoil neutron spectrometer system which can cover the energy range from ∼ 0.8 to ∼ 20 MeV. A matrix method of unfolding with maximum entropy principle and response functions calculated by the Monte Carlo method is used. The spectrometer was used in many benchmark measurements related to the reactor dosimetry (both neutron and gamma spectra).
