Metal Accumulation in Blood and Milk of Dairy Cows Grazed or Fed by Fodder Grown on a Sewage Water Disposal Site

Source

Samples of blood and milk collected from dairy cows, either stall fed with or allowed to graze the fodder grown on sewage disposal land, were compared with similar samples collected from cows which consumed fodder grown on different land other than sewage disposal land. Investigation of metal accumulation revealed highly significant levels of Fe and Pb in serum samples and Zn in milk samples in the exposed group. However the metal concentrations were not above a range considered normal for the cattle.
