Case Histories Using the Slow Strain Rate Test

The slow strain rate test (SSRT) has been used at Air Products and Chemicals for a number of different environments. It was used to estimate the propensity of various amines to stress crack storage tanks; it was used to determine if existing equipment could be used in amine manufacture. Several tests were conducted to duplicate conditions that produced cracking in process equipment. The results of some tests were inconclusive.
