Effects of Fast Neutron Irradiation at 80K on Titanium Nickelide

Source

The structural state of a Ti49Ni51 single crystal irradiated by fast neutrons at 80K was investigated by the neutron diffraction method. It was found that a relatively low fluence amorphized 40% of sample volume. It was shown that the existence of a critical concentration of point defects provides the stability of positional atom disorder in Ti49Ni51 low temperature irradiation damages of titanium nickelide can be well explained within the Gibbon statistical scheme.
