Full-Scale Model Tests of Smoke Movement in Ship Passenger Accommodations (First Report)

Source

Full-scale smoke movement tests were conducted within a model ship accommodation space, which consisted of three deck levels containing a cabin, a corridor, and a stairway. Smoke extraction systems, as well as air supply systems, were installed in the model and used during the tests. A sprinkler system was also installed in a corridor. Cabin fires were simulated by using a burner and a smoke candle placed in a cabin. Temperature, pressure, and smoke movement were observed and analyzed. Numerical simulations using a zone model were also carried out, but the results will be reported in the second report.
