New Test Methods for Liquid Applied Polymeric Roofing and Waterproofing Membranes that are Directly Exposed to the Weather

1. Scope

These test methods cover procedures for sampling and testing liquid applied polymeric roofing and waterproofing membranes intended for use over occupied spaces and directly exposed to weather. The scope includes methods for sampling, test specimens, conditioning, thickness, water absorption, heat aging, linear dimension changes after elevated temperature, tensile-tear strength, tensile load strain properties, water vapor permeance, puncture resistance, and accelerated weathering.

Rationale

Subcommittee D08.25 currently has one active membrane specification and is drafting approximately six new membrane specifications. The purpose of this proposed new Standard Test Methods is to build consensus on test methods that are most likely to be appropriate to be referenced in those specifications. It will then be up to the individual specifications to decide which of these methods to reference and what minimum properties to specify.

The title and scope are in draft form and are under development within this ASTM Committee.
