New Test Method for Test Method for the Analysis of Marine Fuels in a Low Shear Rate and High Temperature Application

1. Scope

To analyze marine fuels from 90°C to 150°C while under a low shear rate analysis. The torque response of the fuel should be a smooth and gradual increase, typically logarithmic in nature, as temperature changes. Rapid changes in torque due to the temperature and shear may indicate a problematic condition of the marine fuel.

Keywords

Fuel, Marine, Bunker

Rationale

There have been failures of fuel causing sea vessels to stop operating that may impact the vessel and the lives of others.

The title and scope are in draft form and are under development within this ASTM Committee.
