Revision of F2291-21 Standard Practice for Design of Amusement Rides and Devices
Rationale
The ballot for work item WK80735 provides an update to wind load factors and associated language in the body of F2291 as a result of changes in ASCE 7’s update from the 2005 edition to 2010 edition and later. In making changes to these factors, it became apparent that other references in sections 8.22.3.1 and 8.24.3.1 were also out dated. It also became apparent that sections 8.22.3.1 and 8.24.3.1 are more informative, and do not contain an actual requirement. Additionally, with the list included in the body of the standard, it could be interpreted that ASTM and the task group are intending to approve some nationally recognized codes, while excluding others.
For the reasons listed above, this ballot moves the informative list of recognized codes and standards to the Appendix.
The ballot for work item WK80735 should be referenced for more detailed discussions on changes to load factors in the body of the text.
