Revision of E6-15e4 Standard Terminology Relating to Methods of Mechanical Testing
Rationale
Delete the term “verification” that is attributed to subcommittee E28.91 from E6.
E6-15e4 contains three definitions of “verification,” which are attributed to E28.01, E28.06, and E28.91, respectively. Until E6-15e3, E28.01 used the definition attributed to E28.91. After that, it adopted the definition from the International Vocabulary of Metrology (JCGM 200:2008), known as the VIM, by formally including it in the terminology section of E4-20. The existence of the E28.91 definition of “verification” is now superfluous.
This work item will not remove the E28.01 definition of verification, which was taken from the International Vocabulary of Metrology (VIM).
This work item will not remove the E28.06 definition of verification.
This work item will not remove the E28.06 definitions of direct verification and indirect verification.
