Delete the term, “set,” which is not attributed to any subcommittee, from E6. Because it is not attributed to any subcommittee, the terminology subcommittee, E28.91, should address this change.
The word “set” is not defined in any E28 standard.
The word “set” is too common to easily search for all the standards in which it appears. However, I scanned every appearance of the word in E28 standards. E855-21, an E28.02 standard, is the only standard where the word “set” appears with a usage that corresponds to “permanent deformation.” E855-21 does not define set, however. And it does not discuss, require, or recommend reporting the time between the removal of the force and the final reading that appears in the second discussion of the definition. The word “set” does not appear in either E290-14 or E190-14, the other E28.02 bend-test standards.
