ASTM WK78024

Withdrawal of E2505-07(2014)e1 Standard Practice for Industrial Rope Access

Rationale

This standard is being balloted for withdrawal with no replacement. There has been little task group activity for ASTM E2505, Standard Practice for Industrial Rope Access in several years and we have been unsuccessful in finding a task group chair or individuals willing to serve as task group members. Furthermore, there are other similar standards such as SPRAT Safe Practices for Rope Access Work that seem to be requested for construction projects requiring rope access inspections. There is also the ANSI Z359 committee that has a rope access standard (Z459.1) that has been in the works for several years. Overall it seems like there is little interest in the ASTM standard and as such the standard is being balloted for withdraw. If you feel the standard should be maintained and/or are willing to serve on a task group to revise/maintain the standard, then vote negative and let us know. This standard is in its 7th year and time is running out so we need to act quickly if it is to be maintained, otherwise it will be withdrawn. Sincerely, Daniel LemieuxE06.55 Chair
