New Practice for Standard Practice for the Collection, Preservation, and Analysis of Organic Gunshot Residue

1. Scope

This standard practice describes procedures for the sampling and preservation of organic gunshot residues (OGSR) recovered from hands, skin, clothing, and other substrates, also instrument conditions for subsequent analysis of samples by gas or liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS or LC-MS), and recommendations for reporting the significance of those findings.
