Rationale

ACE-V is an acronym for the Analysis, Comparison, Evaluation and Verification methodology used by forensic practitioners primarily when conducting feature comparisons. This standard aims to establish a framework and minimum requirements for developing discipline specific standards for the methodology of ACE-V. Forensic practitioners in several disciplines will reference this standard including, but not limited to those in the areas of Physics and Pattern Determination, Digital / Multimedia, Crime Scene/Death Investigation and Chemistry/Instrumental Analysis.

The title and scope are in draft form and are under development within this ASTM Committee.
