New Practice for Standard Practice for Developing Discipline Specific Methodology for ACE-V

1. Scope

1.1 This practice provides a framework for developing a forensic discipline-specific covers the various phases within the methodology of ACE-V (Analysis, Comparison, Evaluation and Verification) and specifies minimum general requirements for a methodology to be recognized as ACE-V.
1.2 This practice does not define any discipline specific test methods.
1.3 Units - The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as the standard. No other units of measurement are included in this standard.
1.4 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.

ACE-V is an acronym for the Analysis, Comparison, Evaluation and Verification methodology used by forensic practitioners primarily when conducting feature comparisons. Forensic practitioners in several disciplines will reference this standard including, but not limited to those in the areas of Physics and Pattern Determination, Digital / Multimedia, Crime Scene/Death Investigation and Chemistry/Instrumental Analysis.
