Section X1.3 of ASTM C926 allows for acrylic finishes as an alternate to portland cement-based finish coats. The proposed change clarifies the constituents of the base coat and establishes the appropriate means to measure by the summation of the first and second coats. For example, should a user desire to use an acrylic finish as permitted by X1.3, the nominal thickness of the conventional portland cement-based stucco is really , not 7/8 because the portland cement-based finish coat should not be included in the stucco thickness.
