New Test Method for Acid Site Characterization on Zeolites Using Dynamic Flow Method

1. Scope

The development of test methods, classifications, practices, and terminology pertaining to catalysts, zeolites and related materials used in their manufacture, and the stimulation of research related thereto. The work of this Committee will be coordinated with other ASTM Committees and other organizations having mutual interests.

Rationale

This test method complements the dynamic ammonia chemisorption followed by a temperature programmed desorption (TPD). This method is most useful as screening tools to measure relative acid site concentrations on zeolites. It may be extended to other solid-state acidic catalysts provided that the user exercises care in optimizing the pretreatment and measurement conditions for the catalyst being tested.

The title and scope are in draft form and are under development within this ASTM Committee.
