New Guide for Describing Type Standardization for Elemental Analysis by Spark Atomic Emission Spectrometry and X-Ray Fluorescence Spectrometry

1. Scope

1.1 This guide covers use of type standardization for temporary modification of established analytical calibrations for improvement on bias for specific materials. This guide is applicable to spark atomic emission spectrometers and X-ray fluorescence spectrometers. 1.1.1 The establishment and controlling of analytical calibrations is not covered in this guide (See Practice E305 and Guides E1361 and E1621). Additionally, this guide provides no details on drift correction, recalibration, or other forms of standardization applied to analytical calibrations. 1.2 Units--The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as the standard. No other units of measurement are included in this standard. 1.3 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.
