Several users have reported a measurement difference between the piston based vapor pressure and the evacuated chamber instruments. The two methods are according the ASTM published standard D5188, Vapor-Liquid Ratio for Temperature Determination of Fuels. Using pure components, such as CRMs used to verify calibration, no difference between the two methods can be observed. Early testing, using typical gasoline samples as a control check, indicates that the new piston-based instrument measures about 1C (2-3 degrees F) higher compared to older systems.
