1.1 This guide describes the method for combining A-UGV standards where success criteria of singular test methods may not be relevant to the success criteria of the combination of two or more standards. 1.2 Standards to be combined may be any type of A-UGV standard, including test methods, practices, specifications, or guides. A-UGV standards are prepared to accept combination with other standards as specified within this guide. 1.3 Fault or failure criteria, when combining standards, may differ from singular standards. 1.4 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as the standard. The values given in parentheses are not precise mathematical conversions to imperial units. They are close approximate equivalents for the purpose of specifying material dimensions or quantities that are readily available to avoid excessive fabrication costs of test apparatuses while maintaining repeatability and reproducibility of the test method results. These values given in parentheses are provided for information only and are not considered standard. 1.5 This standard does not purport to address the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.
Automatic Guided Vehicle (AGV); mobile robot; navigation; docking; obstacle avoidance; communication impairment; environmental effects
This standard is needed to extend the complexity of current A-UGV standards where, for example, navigation may be combined with docking, obstacle avoidance, communication impairments, and environmental effects. It will be used to more closely match and test real world scenarios for A-UGVs. A-UGV manufacturers and users will use this standard.
