Revision of F606/F606M-16 Standard Test Methods for Determining the Mechanical Properties of Externally and Internally Threaded Fasteners, Washers, Direct Tension Indicators, and Rivets
Rationale
Current edition of F606 Standard Test Methods for Determining the Mechanical Properties of Externally and Internally Threaded Fasteners, Washers, Direct Tension Indicators, and Rivets doesnt cover Charpy Impact testing cited by other standards referencing F606. Current ASTM E23 Standard Test Methods for Notched Bar Impact Testing of Metallic Materials doesnt cover certain aspects of fastener specific testing such as specimen location as related to bar thickness, threaded - unthreaded sections, Longitudinal-Transverse orientations, V-notch orientation relative to bar surface, and others. Addition of Charpy Impact testing section will fill the void. To address previous balloting negatives specific location of the Charpy specimen wording has been removed from the proposals.
