New Test Method for Compressive Strength of Alkali-Activated Cementitious Material Mortars (Using 50 mm Cube Specimens)

1. Scope

1.1 This test method covers determination of the compressive strength of alkali-activated cementitious material mortars using 50 mm cube specimens. 1.2 This test method covers the application of the test using SI units. 1.3 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.

Keywords

compressive strength; alkali-activated cementitious materials; alkali activator; AACM precursor

Rationale

A new standard for alkali-activated materials will help products be accepted in the marketplace, make it easier to ensure that consumers are provided with a quality product, provide methodology to benchmark raw materials (for example, fly ash), and help to validate and compare results between different research groups.

The title and scope are in draft form and are under development within this ASTM Committee.
