About this journal

This journal is published in six issues per year. Some issues, in whole or in part, may be Special Issues focused on a topic of interest to our readers.

This flagship ASTM journal is a multi-disciplinary forum for the applied sciences and engineering. Published bimonthly, online only, the Journal of Testing and Evaluation presents new technical information, derived from field and laboratory testing, on the performance, quantitative characterization, and evaluation of materials. Papers present new methods and data along with critical evaluations; report users' experience with test methods and results of interlaboratory testing and analysis; and stimulate new ideas in the fields of testing and evaluation.

Major topic areas are fatigue, fracture, and creep, high/low temperature mechanical testing, fire testing, polymers, elastomers, wood, soils, metallics, additive manufacturing, pavement and construction materials, and statistics. Paper types include technical manuscripts, review articles, technical notes, discussions, closures, editorials, and book reviews. All papers are peer reviewed.

Note to users: The section First Look Papers contains peer reviewed and accepted articles to be published in this journal. When the final article is assigned to an issue of the journal, the First Look Papers version will be removed from this section and will appear in the associated journal issue.

Written permission from the copyright holder must be submitted for any quotes, tables, or figures with appropriate credit.
All artwork will appear in color online and in black and white if printed so be sure your color materials are understandable in black and white. This includes text so don’t refer to the “blue” area but rather the dark area, bold line, dotted line, etc.
All papers are reviewed by at least two anonymous peer reviewers.
Your approved, peer-reviewed paper will be copy-edited and formatted. You will be asked to approve the final version.
Upon approval of the edited version, your paper will be published in the electronic journal.
