ASTM International and Angolan Institute of Standardization Sign Memorandum of Understanding

Translations

ASTM International recently signed a memorandum of understanding with the Angolan Institute of Standardization and Quality (IANORQ). The MOU was signed by Laurentino Canga, director general, IANORQ, and James Thomas, president, ASTM.

“I would like to highlight the importance of the work done by ASTM in the world and express all my positive thoughts on our cooperative relationship,” says Canga. “There is no doubt that this MOU will contribute to the consistently growing strength of standards issues in Angola.”

IANORQ was founded in 1996 within the country’s Ministry of Industry. Products made in Angola, as well as imported goods, are covered by the institute. In addition, IANORQ deals with services performed in Angola.

Thomas says, “We are pleased to work with Angola to provide our standards as an effective and current technical resource to help develop Angolan standards that support health, safety, the environment and economic growth.”

The ASTM MOU program was launched in 2001 to promote communication between ASTM and national standards bodies worldwide, fostering awareness of the standardization systems of all parties involved. For more information, visit www.astm.org/GLOBAL.
