Chapter 15 | Surfactant-Enhanced Environmental Remediation

Source

This chapter deals with environmental remediation and surfactant-based remediation technologies. Such technologies are used for oil-spill remediation, contaminated groundwater remediation, and industrial wastewater treatment to remove contaminants prior to allowing its entry into the groundwater. Surfactant-based technologies for oil-spill remediation include the use of oil dispersants, surface-washing agents, and emulsion breakers and inhibitors; contaminated groundwater technologies involve the use of surfactants and biosurfactants and, for industrial wastewater treatment, the use of coagulating and flocculating agents and foam flotation.
