Chapter 14 | Gaseous Fuels, Liquefied Petroleum Gases, and Light Hydrocarbons: Methane through Butanes, Natural Gasoline, and Light Olefins

This chapter describes the light hydrocarbon products produced from natural gas, natural gas liquids, and light crude oils. The primary products are natural gas for fuel; propane and butane (liquefied petroleum gases) and natural gasoline for fuel applications; and ethane and ethane-propane mixes to make the basic petrochemicals ethylene, butylene, and butadiene. Related products, sulfur and helium, are briefly described. The significance of test methods and relevant standard practices are described, and all current test methods are listed for the various classes of products.
