Prediction of Fatigue Life of Plain Concrete Beams from Fracture Tests

CODEN: JTEVAB

Abstract

A mathematical model, based on the principles of fracture mechanics, is proposed for the prediction of the flexural fatigue life of plain concrete beams. The model predictions are compared with about 400 experimental data from four separate collections, published earlier, covering materials with wide ranges of compressive strengths, 20 Mpa to 44.8 MPa, stress range ratios (minimum/maximum bending stress) of 0 to 0.75, and flexing frequencies of 1 to 20 Hz. There is good agreement between the model and the regression lines fitted to the experimental data.
