Some Aspects of Biaxial Creep Testing of Thin-Walled Cylindrical and Spherical Pressure Vessels

CODEN: JTEVAB

Abstract

Expressions are derived for the expansion of cylindrical and spherical pressure vessels that creep at a constant temperature while being internally pressurized by a constant amount of an ideally behaving gas. The main portion of the initial volume of the pressure vessels is occupied by a rod or a ball-type insert to reduce the energy released or containment requirement if a rupture should occur.
