An Optical Comparator for Evaluation of Fine Sieves



An optical comparator for testing the compliance of fine sieves with existing standards was designed and built. It is a portable, low-cost instrument, featuring a range of magnification from ×8 to ×270 and scanning capabilities over a 30-cm-diameter surface. The design principles are discussed and test results regarding the accuracy and speed of operation are presented.
